You may have recently received an email from Companies House confirming requirements for identity verification by all UK company directors and People with Significant Control (PSCs), as part of the Economic Crime & Corporate Transparency Act 2023.
This verification needs to be in place by 18 November 2025
You’ll need to provide a personal code and a verification statement for each director on your next Confirmation Statement. Without this, the company will not be able to submit the filing.
If you’re a director of multiple companies, you’ll need to do this for each company separately, using the same personal code each time.
Without a code for each director and PSC, you won’t be able to file a Confirmation Statement for your business, leading to fines for non-compliance.
How to get verified
You can complete the ID verification process yourself, by following the online guidance published at Gov.uk
Alternatively, as an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP) – also known as a Companies House Authorised Agent – Growth Through Knowledge can do this for you.
With systems and processes already in place to verify identity documentation as part of my client onboarding process in line with Anti-Money Laundering requirements, I can carry out the Companies House ID Verification process for you, saving you effort working out where you need to go and what you need to do to become verified, and taking one more thing off your to-do list!
This will prompt Companies House to email you a personal code, which will then need to be used to connect your verified identity to your records with Companies House when you file your next Confirmation Statement.
